This is the perfect time of year to start tackling your over-loaded and messy closet.

My apologies if your closet isn’t messy.  You could either be a client, a professional organizer, or a very neat person. But even if you are all or any of those things, you might have some
of the _______________ I share in the video below.

Use my tips to get them out in just minutes. You might have heard these tips before, but if your closet is not looking the way you want it to, watch my short video from last week’s Facebook Live and you’ll be so much closer to a less cluttered closet.

How To Clean Out Your Closet Fast – Tip #1

Buying More Clothes Isn’t What You Need

Jennifer Klepper, the author of Unbroken Threads, has a great 10-minute  WIP Mondays Instagram show.

WIP stands for work in progress. Aren’t we all WIPers?

She asked me to be a guest, and even I was amazed at how much can be shared in just a few minutes.

I gave a few tips and thoughts about what you already have in your closet and that buying more clothes isn’t what you need to get your closet to serve you well.

Why Buying More Clothes Isn't What You NeedHere’s what Jennifer wrote after my spot on her Monday 10-Minute Instagram show:

“Full truth: My closet includes two embarrassingly large stacks of pants and skirts that don’t fit me anymore. I used to be thinner. So there. I’m going to take Scarlett’s advice: box them up and get them out of the closet. I know what looks good on me. Why keep the stuff that doesn’t?”

After you watch my 10-minute spot, reply back with what you did, or plan on doing with some of the clothes in your closet. I love hearing from you.

Oh, and please ignore my Casper 👻 like appearance. I have no idea why my iPad did that.

It’s really scary to share a personal story, and I managed to do it live on Facebook.

Here’s How To Celebrate YOU

Celebrate You

Tis The Season to Celebrate YOU.

The three most common problems women tell me they have with their clothes and self-image are:

1. I don’t know what looks good on me.
2. I need help putting new outfits together.
3. I’m tired of looking around and thinking everyone looks better than I do.

For those who haven’t worked with me or another personal stylist…why are you still saying that?

Do you know what happens when you don’t solve your problems?
THEY DON’T GO AWAY.

It’s time to celebrate you!

Are You Dressed For Success?

Dressed For Success

Being an image consultant during a pandemic has not kept me less busy.

Surprised?

Many women have chosen to stay in PJs, leggings, or sweatpants for the last 8 months. In a way, they’ve given up on themselves, and I don’t need to tell you how bad that is for one’s self-esteem and confidence.

The women who after the first month of self-quarantine, started taking regular showers and throwing on clothes that made them feel and look somewhat normal in not normal times, started noticing that their business, minds, and lives started to look and feel viable and attractive.

Those women have kept me very busy working virtually. They got the whole dressed for success thing.

Here’s an excerpt from the NYT’s article about the German designer Jill Sander that really caught my eye about how women are dressing these days:

She may, in fact, have the answer to the question that has been bedeviling not just fashion but all of us who have had to pull ourselves out of bed and the slough of despond to negotiate life since lockdown began: How do we dress, not necessarily for the world that comes next, but to face the world we are in?
The first thing to know: It does not involve sweatpants.
“I think that radical down-dressing is a drainer.”

To me, this is nothing new, as I’ve held the belief that dressing well doesn’t have to mean being uncomfortable since I’ve started styling women 14 years ago.

You might not be going out as much as usual, but thanks to Zoom,
you are being seen more than ever.

What if I told you that you’re losing money and self-esteem by not showing up as your best self, even if it’s only for yourself?

Waiting – is costing you one of the most valuable assets a successful businesswoman can have, self-confidence.

If you find yourself saying…

“I want to wait till I lose weight before I dress better.”
“I want to wait, till I fix this…  I want to wait till I get this done.”
“I want to wait till I look better.”

What are you really waiting for? What are you possibly avoiding?

Don’t let the waiting get in the way of your life and business!

Come on! What if you never get it fixed and you’re still waiting and all you’ve wasted is time?”

You know what? If you can’t fix it, I know how to cover it up.

There’s nothing that you are telling yourself now, that you weren’t already saying pre-Covid.

If you were unsure about what you should wear before, there’s no way you’ll know after the craziness we’ve been living in for the last 8 months.

I invite you to get one of the 3 spots left this month for your free Always Know What To Wear call, valued at $100. Let me help you stop being afraid of being seen.

Remember, I know how to accent the positive and hide the negative with clothes & accessories, and some of us have a bit more to hide lately. 😳

Styling Tricks You Need To Know

Worried that you have to make BIG changes and investments in dressing better?

Well, you don’t.

You can do little things when deciding what to wear and buy that will take years off how you look and feel.

In other words…BIG results from small efforts with the styling tricks you need to know.

The Styling Tricks & Tips I share won’t require you to buy new clothes or lose weight.

Yeah, I said it!

I’m sharing a biggie with you here because you deserve to know how much you can accomplish with minimal effort or expense.

Below is one of the MANY styling tips I share in Dress Without Stress

Q. Want to make your skin look smoother, less wrinkled, even-toned, and younger?
A. Of course you do!

Notice how these fabrics are highly textured, and if your face is textured from either having freckles, lines, wrinkles, or uneven skin tones, you SHOULD wear textured fabrics.

Styling Tricks

When you wear fabrics near your face that are similar to the texture and patterns on your face, they will become either LESS or MORE noticeable.
Do not wear silk, satin, or other ultra-smooth fabrics if you’d prefer to bring less attention to the texture on your face because they’ll make your lines and wrinkles far more obvious which can make you look older than you are.

This tip took you less than a few minutes to get, process, and think WOW I never knew that, and heck I think I can do that.

YES, YOU CAN, and here’s your chance to learn how to Dress Without Stress now and forever, no matter your size, age, or budget when you get the styling tricks you need to know.

Get Dress Without Stress – a self-study online video course filled with styling tricks and tips.
I created it for the woman who is simply sick and tired of not knowing what to wear for her shape, size, and budget and who’s
ready to stop wasting her money on clothes she doesn’t even like or want to wear.

Q: How much is not knowing what you should wear cost you in terms of confidence and dollars?

A: Too much.

How To Dress In Layers This Fall

It’s time to dress in layers.

How To Dress In Layers

The other day it was a dreary, cold, and rainy morning, so I dressed in layers.

This is the best time of year to dress in layers so you can pile them on and take them off during the temperature changes typical in the Fall.

Other than the necklace, I bought everything else on sale, at great prices, and bought them from anywhere from 2 to 6 years ago.

I can find a deal the same way a pig can find a truffle. 😂

Below is how I layered clothes to create my outfit in only 10 seconds.

Bonus points if you see who video-bombed me.

Where’s Scarlett?

Did you know that I’ve been a team player?
Okay, what I really have been doing is presenting Get Zoom-a-fied workshops to various business teams, and it’s a Win-Win!

Managers are hiring me as a thank you to their teams, and they in turn have employees who immediately use my tips on looking great on Zoom and in person.

Team Reviews

“We had such a wonderful time when our team came to you as a teambuilding activity and to finally spend time on something we often overlook–the way we look to our clients! As professional consultants in the learning and development space, our work brings us in front of clients every day. We need to send a message that we are professional and aware of how our impression impacts their staff, and their clients, too. Since your presentation, we have all stepped up in our visual resume. It is noticeable not only to each other but our clients. Some of our bottom line increase is because we are collectively presenting ourselves with a more put together and current look. This is all because of your good insight and supportive conversations with our team. We’ve been sharing stories of cleaning out our closets and wearing more put together outfits. We know you were responsible for helping us individually, and as a team, present our best selves. Thanks, Scarlett!”

“My team had so much fun today!  Thanks for a great session, I think every one of them was engaged, even (and especially) the one male on our team.”

Gayle King Look At These Styling Tweaks

Please, Gayle King, Give Me A Chance!

Some people have a bucket list of places to go or things to do.

I have a few places I’d love to travel to but that rarely crosses my mind, but I do have one item on my work bucket list that still hasn’t been checked off.

I want to create outfits for Gayle King using her clothes and accessories. She loves bright colors and occasionally overdoes it.  Often she makes fun of herself and outfits on Instagram.

Gayle King

I’ve often been encouraged to find a way to make my dream come true.

Maybe one day it will, but meanwhile, let me show you how I would change her very
colorful with stripes gone wild outfit as shown below.

Gayle King

Here is why this top or dress is not as good as it could be for Gayle King.

  1. The stripes go across from arm to arm, which makes her look wider than she is.
  2. The stripes go right across her chest, which might cause her to say: “eyes up here please!”
  3. The neckline is too low for her proportions.
  4. There simply is too much pattern here and is very distracting. This isn’t a good thing as she’s reporting the news.
  5. The position of the stripes is making her shoulders look very narrow and small which makes her middle appear wider.
  6. All of the above takes away from her incredible talent as a journalist and distracts the viewer.
  7. I’d suggest different glasses as there is way too much going on here.

I tried to use my iPad to show how she could still wear her beloved colors but in a bit more of a subdued and flattering way. I don’t have fancy computer programs, so, please be kind to me.

Gayle King

  1. I removed the stripes from her arms, and she now looks thinner.
  2. I removed the stripes across her chest, which also make her look thinner.
  3. I made her neckline higher and solid, which also makes her look thinner.
  4. I removed most of the stripes, which makes her look a bit more serious.
  5. By making her shoulders in a solid color, notice how her shoulders look broader. Guess what that does? Yup, makes her waist appear smaller so she looks thinner.
  6. She still is showing her love of colors and whimsy, but now is wearing the top instead of it wearing her.
  7. I played around with her glasses for fun, but if I were to create outfits for her she’d love to wear, I’d add colorful glasses with solids, not stripes.

Small tweaks make a huge difference towards looking thinner, younger, stylish, and more professional. They also are what make an outfit go from meh to marvelous.

I have time for five, now only two Free calls ($100 value) in October to help you Clothes The Deal to grow your business and personal life. You’ll show existing and potential clients that you are the one to hire when you look and feel like the talented expert you are.

Looking and feeling put-together is more important now than ever before.

Once these spots are gone, they’re gone.

I’ll show you the 2 top reasons you don’t know what to wear or buy, so get your call on the calendar: Call with Scarlett.

PS. Who can put in a good word about me with Gayle King???
