How Can I Improve My Wardrobe?

How Can I Improve My Wardrobe?

I’m not naming names, but recently a woman reached out to me because she was tired of wearing the same looking outfit over and over again year after year.

You probably know the drill…same style pants and top in a few different colors and when feeling adventurous, she’d throw on a necklace or earrings and feel amazingly BORED.

She hired me to improve her wardrobe, get back self-confidence, and get off the style-rut train, as her next stop was Frumpy Town.

Working with me virtually or in-person currently ranges from $350 to $600 but on July 9, 2021, at 12 noon, I’m giving you the opportunity to ask me questions about your clothes or other wardrobe-related questions for FREE in a very special Ask Scarlett webinar.

I absolutely love giving styling tips to women and this is your chance to get a whole bunch of them at no cost to you.

Another happy client said:

“Your tips have really resonated with me. Your very helpful advice and insights have steered me in a whole new direction, and I am loving the many compliments I’m now getting.”

Learn How To Dress Better

How To Dress Better In Minutes

Ever wish you knew how to dress better instead of having another day of putting on a plain top, looking into the mirror, and thinking-feeling frumpy and really bored with your outfit?

The solution is yours by simply using accessories to turn a basic and somewhat boring outfit into a pulled-together ready-to-be-seen one.

Start with your eyes by using your ears.

Huh? What? Ok, hear me out.

Your eyes are a built-in accessory, but you need to bring them out with what you wear.
One of the best and easiest ways to do so, other than wearing tops in your best colors, is by wearing earrings that either match the color of your eyes or are in your best colors.

The first thing I do for every virtual and in-person client is to show her the best colors to wear plus, and this is very important, which to avoid. The wrong colors can make you look sick and older. The right colors take years off and give you a healthy glow, so be sure to add them to your accessories as well as your clothes.

A Gorgeous Splurge

I love these earrings by Emily Kuvin, a jewelry designer I ‘met’ on the social media platform Clubhouse. Her pieces are a splurge, but also a great example of wearing color to flatter your facial features to make a simple outfit a wow outfit.
I hope to treat myself to this pair of earrings one day.

The very affordable Kate Spade earrings, see below, are available in a very pretty blue and a great way to bring out your eyes and dress up a blah outfit. Do not get the black ones as they won’t be as impactful as those in blues or greens.

Think of necklaces and/or scarves in the same way. Ask yourself if the colors compliment your eyes, skin tone, etc. When they do, any of your same ole outfits will instantly look better and frumpy will not be the first thing you see in the mirror.

And then she said:

“For the first time in my whole life, I have clothes that go with each other and outfits to wear everywhere. And my closet is less than half of what it has ever been.”

Why You Shouldn't Close Your Buttons

Why You Shouldn’t Close Your Buttons

Very often you may think that if you can’t close the buttons of your jacket or cardigan, you automatically think it doesn’t fit and so you don’t wear it.

You’re wrong, and I’m telling you that with love.

Note: Going forward, I refer to those as toppers.

Take a look at these two photos of me in my fitted blue topper and see the hourglass shape it gives me when open, which makes me look thinner.

Why You Shouldn't Close Your Buttons

If I chose to only wear it when closed… it looks like I’ve gained weight, had breast enlargement surgery,  and am unable to close it. 😳

Why You Shouldn't Close Your Buttons

Tip: When your topper is loose-fitting, try buttoning one or two buttons in the middle to give you a more defined waistline.

Watch the video below where I talk about the above outfit,  and how it’s possible to use fewer clothes to make more outfits.

How To Quickly Make Your Closet Look Better

How To Quickly Make Your Closet Look Better

Q. Who wants to know how to quickly make your closet look better?
A. Everyone.

I’ve said it before and am saying it again.

One of the quickest ways to make your clothes and the closets they hang in look neater and more welcoming, is to put all your clothes on identical hangers.

You’ll also most likely will find a few pieces you’ve forgotten about and discover others that truly need to go.

These hangers below, not plastic, are the type you should use and will love. They’ll also keep your clothes in better shape and keep them from sliding off the hanger.

Trust me it’s worth the small amount of time to do this, and while you’re at it please take out all those nasty wire hangers and give them back to the dry-cleaners for recycling.

Here Comes The Bride…no, not me.

Recently a longtime and very stylish fellow member of a woman’s networking group, asked me if I would consider offering a group virtual color consultation for her daughter-in-law to be and bridesmaids. She thought it would be a fun way to gather from all over the country, grand-mothers, moms, aunts and friends… it sure was.

How To Quickly Make Your Closet Look BetterFrom the bride herself:
“That was the perfect activity for a bridesmaids brunch!
Not only should it be something everyone is cognitive of when getting ready for events, but everyone learned something and it also worked as a fun way to break the ice”. Eva Maria

I wish I had thought of this fun service myself.

I showed the bride and bridesmaids what their best colors and necklines are, so that they will be even more gorgeous on next year’s wedding day.

Buying More Clothes Isn't What You Need

Buying More Clothes Isn’t What You Need

Jennifer Klepper, the author of Unbroken Threads, has a great 10-minute  WIPMondays Instagram show.

WIP stands for work in progress. Aren’t we all WIPers?

She asked me to be a guest a little over a month ago, and even I was amazed at how much can be shared in just a few minutes.

I gave a few tips and thoughts about what you already have in your closet and that buying more clothes isn’t what you need to get your closet to serve you well.

Why Buying More Clothes Isn't What You NeedHere’s what Jennifer wrote after my spot on her Monday 10-Minute Instagram show:

Full truth: My closet includes two embarrassingly large stacks of pants and skirts that don’t fit me anymore. I used to be thinner. So there. I’m going to take Scarlett’s advice: box them up and get them out of the closet. I know what looks good on me. Why keep the stuff that doesn’t?

After you watch my 10-minute spot, reply back with what you did, or plan on doing with some of the clothes in your closet. I love hearing from you.

Oh, and please ignore my Casper 👻 like appearance. I have no idea why my iPad did that.

How To Clean Out Your Closet Fast

Why You Have Nothing To Wear

Why You Have Nothing To Wear

Full Closet. Nothing To Wear.

Recently a new client asked to work with me because she was fed up with having lots of clothes, yet nothing she loved to wear.

Every time she was getting dressed for either an in-person or remote meeting she would wear the same one or two outfits that she had in a few different colors, but always felt frumpy.

And she couldn’t understand why the clothes she had bought seemed great when she bought them, and not so great when she tried to make an outfit with them.

She hysterically shared that her recent way of accessorizing an outfit was to put a bra on. LOL

Then she confessed that things got worse when she let her 18-year-old daughter give her styling advice. 😳

Hence, her “I can’t take it anymore” ringy -dingy to my cell.

I virtually took a look at her clothes and a few selfies so I could see what was going wrong and how to make it right. And it worked.

I told her, here’s why you have nothing to wear…

Turns out she was buying clothes just because they fit, instead of loving how she looked in them and following the advice of a teenager might have worked if she was 18, but not at over 45.

She had lots of pieces, but very few that could be mix and matched to create lots of new outfits.

During her Zoom with me, I was able to show her which of her clothes were perfect for her and which to get out of her closet. And because she chose my Premium Virtual Styling service, I showed her the clothes and accessories to try and buy because I knew she’d look amazing wearing them.

Yesterday she emailed me a big thank you. She loves all the compliments she’s now getting when on camera, and finally her insecurities are gone. She also stopped buying clothes she didn’t even like to wear.

PS Now she’s giving her daughter styling advice and she’s listening!!  Respect!

ANNOUNCEMENT –  My Virtual Personal Styling fees are increasing on September 14, 2020. When you purchase a virtual styling service prior to 9/14/20, we’ll work together when you’re ready and you get to save money that you can use towards some new clothes.

How Can I Improve My Wardrobe?

How To Get Their Attention OnLine

How To Get Their Attention OnLine

How To Get Their Attention OnLine

Sometimes going online is the only way to get an outcome you not only desire but also need.

A few months ago a client asked me to help her find a dress to wear to her son’s wedding reception in the fall.

I sent her links to a few dresses I felt she’d look great in plus one dressy 2 piece pants outfit. She didn’t ask for pants, but I felt she would look spectacular in this particular outfit.

Some of the dresses were lovely on her, but she LOVED how the pants outfit looked on her and the photos she sent me of her wearing it showed how stunning she looked and felt.

Note: She would never have picked the winning outfit on her own.

She mailed back the dresses as she didn’t need them, and…

Done.

Unfortunately, the pants set was damaged as the box that it was shipped in took quite a beating,

Not done.

The easy solution was to order another one and send back the damaged one.

Done.

A few months went by, and she still hadn’t gotten credit for the damaged set she had returned.

Not done.

She reached out to me to ask for advice as her emails and telephone calls were not getting her the refund that was due to her.

I told her to go their FaceBook page and very nicely explain the problem, and wouldn’t you know it, she got a response and refund in less than 24 hours and now it’s Done!

What are you saying?

Now if you’re working and being seen online, I want you not to look like everyone else.

If you dress too casually, simply, or unimaginatively, you’re showing your existing and prospective clients how you see your business or GASP, them!!!!

Watch below to see what I feel so strongly about and how to get their
attention online in a good way.

Let’s talk about how we can make you not disappear and lose clients.

Here I am, below, telling you about 2 clients who made money from clothes they either didn’t or shouldn’t wear.
