There must be something in my client’s water, as lately so many of them are sharing jewelry designers they’ve met and want me to meet as well.
It’s likely not the water but more that they know how much I love using jewelry often and creatively to make some killer outfits for them.
Today I’ll share the beautiful and affordable designs byAmy Kanarek.
Amy has allowed me to customize her designs for my clients, so I can pick out the perfect metal and stone colors for their features and clothes.
Details matter, and when you wear the right ones you’ve hit the Jackpot. Even a simple all-black outfit or t-shirt and jeans become a watch-out world one with a necklace and earrings that bring out your features that adds personality to your wardrobe.
NOTE: If you make a purchase on Amy Kanarek, tell her Scarlett sent you, and if you are a client of mine I’ll make customized suggestions for you. YOU know why the details matter.
Sometimes, like almost always, we can’t change what we were born with. Well, at least not without surgery.
Or can we?
Below is a video of my tip to show you how to make your neck look longer, which will then make you look longer and leaner.
Learning how to dress the body you have, is how you can minimize the parts of your body you’re less than thrilled with and stop wasting your time and energy with negative self-talk.
It’s also how to look thinner.
Buying the wrong clothes over and over is not how to always have something to wear.
Knowing what is perfect for your shape, age, personality, and budget will give you a closet filled with outfits, you can’t wait to wear.
Here’s how I can show you what to wear so you’ll look and feel confident, thinner, and gorgeous.
I’m not naming names, but recently a woman reached out to me because she was tired of wearing the same looking outfit over and over again year after year.
You probably know the drill…same style pants and top in a few different colors and when feeling adventurous, she’d throw on a necklace or earrings and feel amazingly BORED.
She hired me to improve her wardrobe, get back self-confidence, and get off the style-rut train, as her next stop was Frumpy Town.
Another happy client said:
“Your tips have really resonated with me. Your very helpful advice and insights have steered me in a whole new direction, and I am loving the many compliments I’m now getting.”
If you know me, you know I love necklaces and how they can make any outfit look 100% more stylish and interesting.
For those who really know me because we’ve worked together, you know how I care about where a necklace lays (or is it lies?) on you and your clothes.
You also know how I love to use accessories in new ways and combinations.
Anyway, I digress…
Clearly, I’m not happy with the length of my necklace in the top photo. I don’t like how my skin is showing thru and it’s a bit too short for my proportions. It simply is not as good as it can be. So, I adjusted the length, and voila.
How To Wear A Necklace A Better Way.
This is a great example of how a small change makes a big improvement in a very subtle way.
See how my necklace almost looks like it’s part of the neckline in my dress? That’s what you should go for whenever possible, especially with shorter necklaces.

Ever wish you knew how to dress better instead of having another day of putting on a plain top, looking into the mirror, and thinking-feeling frumpy and really bored with your outfit?
The solution is yours by simply using accessories to turn a basic and somewhat boring outfit into a pulled-together ready-to-be-seen one.
Start with your eyes by using your ears.
Huh? What? Ok, hear me out.
Your eyes are a built-in accessory, but you need to bring them out with what you wear.
One of the best and easiest ways to do so, other than wearing tops in your best colors, is by wearing earrings that either match the color of your eyes or are in your best colors.
The first thing I do for every virtual and in-person client is to show her the best colors to wear plus, and this is very important, which to avoid. The wrong colors can make you look sick and older. The right colors take years off and give you a healthy glow, so be sure to add them to your accessories as well as your clothes.
A Gorgeous Splurge
I love these earrings by Emily Kuvin, a jewelry designer I ‘met’ on the social media platform Clubhouse. Her pieces are a splurge, but also a great example of wearing color to flatter your facial features to make a simple outfit a wow outfit.
I hope to treat myself to this pair of earrings one day.
The very affordable Kate Spade earrings, see below, are available in a very pretty blue and a great way to bring out your eyes and dress up a blah outfit. Do not get the black ones as they won’t be as impactful as those in blues or greens.
Think of necklaces and/or scarves in the same way. Ask yourself if the colors compliment your eyes, skin tone, etc. When they do, any of your same ole outfits will instantly look better and frumpy will not be the first thing you see in the mirror.
And then she said:
“For the first time in my whole life, I have clothes that go with each other and outfits to wear everywhere. And my closet is less than half of what it has ever been.”
I asked that question to my Stop Stressing About Dressing private group on FaceBook, and although most were not a fan of this titled “Power Outfit”, nobody was able to point out why it isn’t flattering on this model.
Here’s why this outfit is NOT right for her and likely you:
Her arms are very long, and these sleeves are way too short for her which makes her look like the jacket is too small for her.
She needs to wear a top under this jacket or wear a jacket that buttons up higher as the open neckline is way out of proportion for her shape and height.
Lose the socks!! Why oh why did the stylist put white socks on her??? They visually chop up her legs and make them look too thin. Yes, legs can look too thin.
The shoes without socks are barely ok, but sandals would have been so much better.
Large pockets on the hips rarely flatter anyone…even a thin model.
Either shorter shorts, ankle, or full-length pants would be much more flattering for her proportions.
This very dull color diminishes her beautiful coloring and features.
The details that make an outfit or piece of clothing work, or not, for each woman vary greatly. Here is a tall, thin, and beautiful woman in an outfit that makes her look like she’s wearing somebody else’s ill-fitting clothes and takes away from her beauty. Proof, that thin is NEVER the reason why clothes don’t look as great on you as you think they would.
Learning which clothes look good on YOU is how to
go from feeling insecure to feeling and looking confident.
Knowing what colors, cut, styling details, and fit work for YOU is how to not buy or wear clothes that make you feel unattractive, frumpy, and unprofessional.
Speaking of fit, let’s find out if working together is the
right fit for us both.
If you are one of the many women who stare into their closets and wish they knew why they keep thinking they have nothing to wear, you’ll have a much better idea after watching my presentation to the Chicago chapter of TTN, Women Embracing Life After 50.
