How To Instantly Look Thinner and Taller

Look Thinner and Taller in Seconds

Would you like to know how to instantly look thinner and taller, without buying new clothes, losing weight, or holding in your stomach while not breathing?

I know, you are thinking that this is impossible, but it isn’t, and I’ll show you how to do it in less than one minute.

Here is what you need to do: put on a long-sleeved top and get yourself to a full-length mirror. Now, push only one of your sleeves up. Do you see it? See the subtle and surprising difference? Notice how you look thinner and taller, just by making your sleeves shorter?

How can that be, you ask? Well, the proof is in your reflection. By pushing your sleeves up— go ahead and push the other sleeve up now too—you are creating an emphasis on your waistline or creating the illusion of one. Therefore you look thinner.

The shorter sleeves give the impression of greater height, so now you look taller. Keep in mind that this styling trick is only needed if you want to look thinner and/or taller.

Now if you think you need to get a new top to achieve this result, you would be wrong. This trick even works with sweatshirts from your school days or your children’s or grandchildren’s alma mater.

Rolling or pushing your sleeves up instantly elevates any outfit, and I mean any outfit.

Warning: All of my clients have developed an instinct to push their sleeves up whenever they get dressed, or as soon as they see me walking towards them.
You too may now find yourself pushing up the sleeves of those that you care about, but trust me; they will thank you for it.

Why you buy the wrong clothes – Client Wisdom

Client Wisdom: The More You Know

Today, I’m sharing what one of wonderful, and quite observant, long-time clients sent to me in an email.

“I’ve been thinking about another one of your many words of wisdom – (paraphrased)………’don’t go shopping with anyone’ and, ‘you don’t want to dress like your daughter.’

So, what prompted me to think about this was a recent visit to my local consignment store. I go in to drop clothes off, but never look around to buy. Well, a couple of weeks ago my 20 something niece was visiting from NC and she went in there and bought a lot of really cute clothes. Then last week I dropped off something else and the store was full of 20 somethings buying lots of clothes. These clothes looked great on them but it wouldn’t cross my mind to wear the clothes myself. And it got me to thinking……….where are these clothes coming from? Then I had an aha moment, these young women are buying clothes the mothers are consigning because they bought them while shopping with their daughters! So, if one wants a lot of clothes to consign, go shopping with your daughter!”
C.L.

Hmmm, something to think about…

Note: The reason she went to the consignment shop was to drop off, and pick up her earnings from the clothes I advised she shouldn’t keep or wear. Be sure to not let money sit in your closet. Consign or donate the ones wrong for you too.

Shopping tip for mothers and daughters

What would you have said? 😳

If you are a mother or a daughter, you’ll likely relate to
what I witnessed.

Use this shopping tip for mothers and daughters.

Watch below and see why I couldn’t be quiet. 😳

And the she said…

“Before working with Stylist Scarlett, I had a closet full of clothes that no longer fit and zero ideas about how to dress my “new” middle-aged body in anything other than leggings. Scarlett provided thoughtful suggestions based on my needs and feedback about why pieces worked or didn’t work with my body type. More than once, she was part stylist, and part therapist, encouraging me to try new colors and styles. I now have outfits at the ready and get dressed without hating myself! Scarlett is a gem and I recommend her to anyone struggling to find their fashion way.”

Closet Makeover Part 2

Closet Makeover Part 2

In my last blog, I gave you a sneak peek into how I re-organized and beautified my client’s closet in California.

Today, you’ll see more and yes, I know that she is very lucky to have a large closet.

Please know that everything I did in terms of organizing will also work in your own closet, no matter how small or big it may be.

I used the floor shoe rack for sneakers and hiking boots, tucked into a corner instead of where it was before under the window.

Tip 1 – Keep all your shoes in one place. In the photo above you can see she had some on the floor, upper shelves, and more in bins. This is very common, but not a good use of space.
Instead, keep them all together on the floor, or if you are lucky enough to have shelves, store them there. See the above-after photo.

Note: Donate or consign the shoes you no longer can, or will wear again.

Tip 2 – Use all the same hangers for your clothes. No plastic or wire ones…please!

Tip 3 – Use see-thru plastic boxes for shoes. It’s ok to use a regular cardboard box now and then too, or use the clear boxes for larger shoes/booties.

Tip 4 – Use a pretty laundry bin. Here’s the one I found for this closet makeover.

Tip 5 – Hang like with like. Sleeveless with sleeveless, short sleeves with shorts, etc.

Tip 6 – If you are fortunate enough to have room for a rug and chair or bench, then use it! I asked my client if she had an extra chair and rug, and much to my delight, she did!

You can transform your closet with tips 1 to 5 in a matter of hours, and find pieces you forgot you had, and recognize those you need to say goodbye to.

P.S. I redid another of her closets which I’ll share one day as well.

Closet Makeover – Part 1

My Client Was Unhappy

My 2+ year-long virtual client needed more from me than I was already giving her. 😳

OK, here’s the backstory.

I had already found great new clothes and created can’t-wait-to-wear outfits for her, but she was disappointed that her closet wasn’t pretty and organized.

She really wanted me to work in-person with her, but I live in New York and she’s in California, so not much can be done about that.

But, then she had a brilliant idea 🤩…
Last week, I flew to San Francisco and spent 3 wonderful days creating a closet sanctuary for my wonderful client.

I’m still tired from my trip and the time difference, so I’ll be sharing photos and details over the next few weeks.

Sneak peek: Below is a before of some shelves barely being used. Can you guess what I did with them?

Now, woman to woman…I’m a bit tired these days, and I wonder if you’re also feeling exhausted.

Or maybe you discovered navigating menopause isn’t always a walk in the park.
For me, it’s heartbreaking to hear women struggling with their bodies that are out of control, feeling uncomfortable, frumpy, and exhausted.

Hold on a moment! Before you panic, here’s the silver lining. I’m excited to share that I’ll participate in an amazing free 14-day talk series focused on boosting your energy, calming the flushes, dressing a changing body, and finding emotional balance.
And guess what? I’ve reserved FREE front-row seats just for you here!

Get exclusive access to the complete (Peri) Menopause Like a Pro series for free right HERE.

PS My presentation will be available on February 27, 2024.

Tips For Stress-Free Shopping

Tips For Stress-Free Shopping

The photo below is of an actual warehouse sale I went to. 😳

It also is how most of my clients view shopping for clothes.

Overwhelming, confusing, and impossible. But, if you shop knowing what works best on you, then it’s soooo much easier to go through the racks and zero in on what you should try on, versus leaving empty-handed, depressed, and stressed.

Shopping is only stressful when it’s unsuccessful.

Note: I walked out with a pair of $230 Paige jeans for just $25.
That’s all I bought and no stress was involved.

On a completely other note, I dressed up my website, ScarlettImage.com, and would love for you to take a look and let me know what you think.

How To Make Pants Fit

My Pants Did Not Fit…Till Now

Here’s how to make pants fit better.

Don’t you just hate it when your pants are tight, but seemed to fit not that long ago?

I hate when that happens, and it happens a lot to me and a whole lot of other women I know.
It also happens in reverse.

You know like when you buy a pair of pants, and then miraculously, you lose a few pounds, and you spend your days hiking them up…and then they slip down again.

Well, I hate when that happens too.

I discovered an incredibly inexpensive fix for fixing this frustrating fit issue.

You can see it on the pair of jeans I’m showing above.
I bought them when I was about 5 pounds heavier, and now I can wear them each time my weight goes up or down and up or down, well…you get it.

YOU deserve to know what to wear.

You can learn how to dress for the body & life you have now, and end the stress you get when you open your closet door and say… “I have nothing to wear”. Book a call to learn how.
