Thank You

To all my wonderful clients, readers and followers, I wanted to thank you for your unending loyalty, praise, and support. Showing you how to look and feel gorgeous, stop wasting money on the wrong clothes, and how to dress fabulous instead of frumpy, truly makes my day. Nope, it makes all my everydays fun and fulfilling.

I love getting your emails, calls and SOS fashion emergency texts.

YOU, make me smile and laugh.
YOU’re the best!

But, right now I’m a bit sad as I can’t work with any clients this week or do much on the internet, as I’m in the hospital, with terrible WiFi, with my son who is getting EEG monitoring for his Intractable Epilepsy.

So, as a gift to you, here is what I look like when I’m not working, and style is not on my mind. This week. I’m just a mom trying to keep my son and I from going nuts in here.

Thank youAnd, oh yes, I’m wearing men’s sweatpants!

You’re welcome for that laugh. 🙂

Thank You for being so wonderful!

Fashion Designers, Stop Designing Clothes That Make Women Look Like They Were Sexually Harassed By Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, Bill O’Reilly, Mark Halperin, and Far Too Many More Men.

About a month before the world learned about what kind of power Harvey Weinstein really had over women in Hollywood, I began noticing more and more how designers were creating clothes for women that looked like they were ripped off their bodies.

I’ve been holding on to some photos of clothes I found while shopping for my clients, that I didn’t quite know what to with, but now that it’s trending to get the truth about these roach like men, out into the open and under the spotlight, I want to share my ranting thoughts and photos with you.

Look at this shirt missing part of one sleeve. Doesn’t it look like someone tore it off?

How about these pants?

striped dress

If a woman walked into a police department wearing any of these ridiculously designed clothes, they would have to assume she was attacked.

Isn’t it bad enough that women get sexually harassed, bullied and intimidated by men?

Now we have designers creating clothes that, in my opinion, are mocking being abused and taking being a fashion victim to a whole new level.

Listen up designers and retailers: women deserve designs and clothes that are flattering, professional, comfortable and affordable. Not, laughable, appalling and trivializing abuse.

We do not deserve clothes that mock and marginalize us. We deserve respect and dignity, and if we can’t get it from some men, we should at least get it from those who design the clothes we wear.

P.S. My opinion is not stuffy, old-fashioned or out of touch because I’m over 40. I wouldn’t want my daughter or any young woman to dress in clothes that look like these. Would you?

Personal Stylist Tips: How To Look Classy On A Budget.

How To Look Classy On A Budget

If I were to be asked the following questions in an interview, I have and here are the answers that will help every woman look classy on a budget.

Q. What are 3 inexpensive ways to look classy and put together?

A. 1. Wear clothes in the size you are now and not what you once were or want to be. Trust me, it’s worth the sacrifice.
2. Wear pants that are properly hemmed, so they don’t drag on the floor or look like you walked thru a flood. You’ll even look thinner and taller.
3. Wearing colors near your face that make your eyes sparkle and your skin not look yellow or green.

Q. What are 3 pieces of clothing that every woman needs?

A. 1. A proper fitting bra, so you are up where you belong with the bonus of having a more defined waistline.
2. A pair of pants that are comfortable and visually make your bigger parts smaller and your legs look longer. YES, they exist.
3. A handbag in a color, other than black, that doesn’t have any signs of wear and tear.

Q. What’s one common misconception about looking classy & well put together?

A. The biggest misconception is thinking that it costs a lot of money to dress well and look classy. If a woman buys clothing that costs lots of money but is in the wrong colors or fit, all she has are expensive mistakes hanging in her closet.

ALERT: Don’t lose weight or get younger. Get smarter.

YES, there are tons of clothes & styles right for you, but until you know what they are, nothing will change about your struggles.
If you want to personally get my tips without having to show me your closet or try on clothes, then you should look HERE.

How To Look Classy On A Budget

“I attended Scarlett’s Styling Event, and it was fantastic. A small group of women shared learning and experiences and many many questions and laughs as we learned about our colors, ‘pulling things together’ and loads of style tips. I left energized and ready to make some changes, heading directly into my closet. Of course with all the extra space there was room for a tiny shopping trip to see if I could find at least 1 new piece in ‘my pallet’. The sales clerk was quite impressed with my focused shopping efforts as was I! Highly, highly recommend if you have the opportunity to work with Scarlett in a group or individual setting you consider it.”

You Are More Than The Size On Your Tag

You Are More Than The Size On Your Tag. and I’ve been preaching for years, actually over a decade, that the number on your clothes has nothing to do with looking or feeling good.

Yet, women continue to get hung up on the numbers in the clothes hanging in their closets and in stores.

So, if you won’t listen to me, then take a read at this wonderful post by one of my idols, Kim Caldwell, aka Hurray Kimmay.

I am More Than My Size On the

Real talk time (as always around here.) Have you ever not bought a great dress because you fit better in a size up than you normally wear? Have you ever felt a huge hurray when you can squeeze into a smaller size than usual? Have you ever felt like an outcast because you have to … Continue reading

Kimmay is a bra fitter like no other, as she is uber passionate about what a proper fitting bra does for a woman and has made this her life’s mission.

Like myself, she knows that the right bra not only transforms how a woman looks, but also feels about herself.

The same for your clothes. The right style and fit makes a women want to shout out hooray. You are more than the size on your tag.

Be sure to check out Kimmay’s wonderful More Than My Numbers program, because WE ARE ALL more than just a number!! #MoreThanMyNumbers

So stop stressing about the numbers and set yourself free….but first, please wear a proper fitting bra.

Clothes Shopping Tips

Clothes Shopping Tips

Here are five clothes shopping tips to help you make shopping more successful and less stressful.

  1. Change stores: If you keep saying you have nothing to wear, it’s time to try another store.
  2. Buy color. See which colors make your eyes sparkle and your skin look healthy. Don’t keep hiding in black.
  3. Go for fit not size. You will get compliments when wearing clothes that fit the body you have –  not the one you used to have or wish you had. Trust me, I know all about that.
  4. Step Back From The Rack. People tend to buy more of what they already have. Try on clothes that do not look like something already hanging in your closet
  5. Don’t Be A Slave To What’s “In” Even if it is the color of the season, or the pants of the year, if the clothes do not work for your coloring or body type, they are NOT for you. It can be very aging when you try to follow a trend, regardless of whether it fits your body.

Just pick one tip to try, and I bet you’ll be happily surprised. If you need help, you know who to call, right?

Know Where Your Prints Are and How To Look Thinner In Clothes

Want to look thinner in clothes?

Sometimes we don’t see a problem, till it becomes amusingly obvious.

Here’s the deal. I recently bought this top for those hot summer days when I want to look and feel cool.

The colors and proportion are right for me, the pattern makes me happy, but…..

I noticed on the second day that I wore it, how two of the flowers were dangerously close to being in the very wrong place; or in this case, places.

Please see Exhibit A, the photo of myself pointing out the oh so close, to being oh so wrong print placement across my chest.

I show women how to avoid bringing negative attention to the body parts they don’t like and focus instead on maximizing the ones they do, or don’t even know they’ve got.

I also show women how to look thinner in clothes, because it seems no matter what size they may wear, they wants to look thinner. Me too.

Prints can make you look thinner in clothes

OR Bigger.

Print placement can accentuate the positive and minimize the negative.

Here are a few tricks to help you avoid making big things look bigger, or get unwanted attention.

If you want to increase the size of your bosom without surgery, wear pockets and prints on the chest area, however not a print that screams out; pick me ’cause I’m ripe.

Want to minimize your bottom, avoid pockets and prints that ‘enlarge’ the area and result in you asking, “Does this make my butt look fat”?

Now, if you have read down to here, please type in the comment box below if you ever had, or witnessed a print mishap.

Surely, I can’t be the only one. Can I?

Get Out The Ain’t Gonna Happen

Get Out The Ain’t Gonna Happen
Get Out The Ain’t Gonna Happen

There really are never any good reasons to hold onto clothes that no longer fit, flatter, or make you happy, yet…..

Need an incentive?  How about making money and/or giving others clothes they may not be able to afford?

Here’s an easy way to get out those ‘ain’t gonna happen’ clothes out of your closet and home and make a few extra dollars.

ThredUp.com, is a company that I recently started using so I can easily and quickly get the clothes that no longer fit or flatter me out of the house.
They send you a giant, and seriously mean BIG, bag  for you to fill up to your heart’s content or your closet’s contents.

You get paid upfront for some items while others are sold on consignment.

You chose whether to shop on their site with your credit, or get a gift card you can use anywhere you like.

My last gift card paid for my hair salon visit. Nice, right?

ThredUp also takes your clothing donations.

Typically I donate to our local Community center as it is close and convenient, but if you don’t have that option, then try this company as it so easy, and gives you that warm and tingly purge feeling.

If it has been years since you wore a coat, shirt, pants, shoes, whatever, I can assure that there is someone out there with a lot less than you, who would be VERY appreciate of your donation.

Check out how ThredUp works here.
