I Need To Give You The Cold Shoulder

The Cold Shoulder

Sometimes too much of a good thing, becomes a bad thing.

It also can become boring to see the same thing, over and over again, and that is why I am warning women to not go crazy over the cold shoulder trend in tops and dresses. I mean it is everywhere, and nothing is special if it is all over the place.

Hint. Hint.

A hint that the cold shoulder trend is winding down, is when the sale racks have lots of the cold shoulder clothes on them, and right now they do.

The cold shoulder is flattering to most women, is a bit sexy without going ‘all the way’, and hides the part of the arm most women despise. Like, really, really despise.

Just buy one or two but no more of this trend, so you won’t have wasted your money on the cold shoulder style, that very soon most will give the cold shoulder to.

PS. A dear and very fashionable friend, reminded me that this look was started by Donna Karan a few decades ago. So have no fear, as the cold shoulder trend will be back again. And again, and of course, again.

Hillary Clinton wearing the cold shoulder by Donna Karan

Above is Hillary Clinton back in 1993 when as The First Lady, she got lots of attention when wearing this cold shoulder dress by Donna Karan.

“Although Scarlett came extremely highly recommended and I knew what to expect when working with her, I was still so very surprised and delighted by how truly wonderful the process really was — and Scarlett is. Clearing out my closet was uplifting – I never realized how little of what was in there that I actually wore, or would even want to wear! Seeing what new outfits could be made from the remaining clothes was very enlightening. But the icing on the cake was the shopping experience! Words can’t really describe how wonderful it was. Truly an experience that every woman should have—and ideally have more than once! And I am so tickled at the compliments I’ve been getting at my new outfits and how amazing they make me look and feel! Without a doubt, I can definitely say I’ve stopped stressing about dressing!!”  Kim Barron – New Leaf Graphic Design

These Are The Outfits I Created From My Carry-On Bag

My last blog post showed what I packed for my 2 countries in one week trip last month, and now these are the outfits I created from my carry-on bag.

London

I also have no problem washing my clothes in a the bathroom sink.

Same outfit to travel back home in.

Please don’t judge me, but I see nothing wrong with wearing the same outfit twice during a vacation. I do change my shoes, so my feet get relief and depending upon the heel height, an outfit can look  dressier or more casual.

I really love spending time walking, sightseeing, being comfortable, not looking like a tourist and never wasting precious time at the luggage carousel praying my suitcase didn’t get lost. I  have no problem washing my clothes in a the bathroom sink, so I can pack less and not come home with a load of laundry to do.

Tip: I use a smaller bag for dressier nights as holder for jewelry or cosmetics when packing. The more you can use something for more than one way, the less you have to pack.

NOTE: There was only one top that I ended up never wearing, as the heat wave was intense and the evenings never got cool.

Now it’s your turn to challenge yourself by packing less and having more to wear.

Only Travel With A Carry-On Bag

When you see this post, I will have already been in London and on my way to Lisbon, and when I travel I only use a carry-on bag, so I’m outta here.

Two Countries, One Week In A Carry-On Bag.

WHAT??? Only a carry-on, you ask?

Yes, ONLY a carry-on. No suitcases to check in, and nervously wait for at the carousel. I want every minute to be used for touring, eating, and shopping.

I’ll be posting on my Scarlett Image FaceBook page, the different outfits I created using what I packed, including my comfy travel outfit.

Hey, I plan on sleeping while I fly, or at least try to, so comfort without wearing pj’s is important to me.

Plus, I like to arrive NOT looking, like I stumbled out of bed.

Here is what I packed, and see the bundle after I folded all the clothes I’m taking.

Go ahead and take a Like and a Look at my FaceBook Scarlett Image page, to see more styling and shopping tips.

Here is what I packed:

1 dress
1 lightweight black loose topper
1 pair jean leggings
1 pair black leggings
1 pair harem style pants
1 black tank top
1 black 3/4 sleeve top
1 tunic
1 white shirt tunic (my husband LOVES when I wear this top).
1 sleeveless printed top
1 large lightweight black & cream scarf that can double as a wrap.
2 pairs earrings
1 silver necklace
2 lightweight fabric necklaces
1 watch
3 pairs sandals
1 pair sneakers (not the going-to the-gym kind)

Note: I bring more pairs of shoes than some may need, as we do lots and lots of walking when in Europe and I need to wear a different pair each day to avoid discomfort. I get cranky when my feet hurt.

To answer your question, yes I bring pj’s, underwear, and toiletries.
I wash underwear and, if needed, my clothes in the bathroom sink. I only take fabrics that dry very quickly, so that by morning all is dry.

You Decide

Image Stylist Scarlett

Every time you decide to get out of your PJ’s or leggings and out of the house ask yourself just two questions:

“How do I want to feel today?”

“How do I want others to feel about me today?”

Then  choose to dress in an outfit that will give you the feeling you seek and deserve to feel. No more excuses please.

Like Nike says; Just Do It.

When you lose your excuses, you’ll find results.

Scarlett is a brilliant Image Stylist. She understands not only what looks good on her clients but how those clothes interact with daily life and can be an extension of brand. It was so incredible to arrive at my dressing room and find it fully loaded. I will never EVER look through racks of clothes again. What she saved me in knowing where to find the great sales (and when to pay full price) covered her fee alone. Even if that wasn’t the case she would be worth every penny. I highly recommend Scarlett!

It was very interesting learning that I am a summer palette of muted colors as well as the best neckline for the shape of my face. Who knew that gold jewelry is the preferred metal for my skin, hair and eyes? It was fun trying various outfits as we went through the closet of clothes, shoes, scarves and jewelry! Thanks for taking pictures cause I would NEVER remember.
Wow, by the end of our time together I knew what would work or not work and I love that you recommended some missing items in my closet You really helped me gain control. Felt GREAT getting rid of the things I had no idea what to do with or wear with.

Oh No It’s Back and Don’t Be Green With Envy

Color Trend Warning: Oh, No It’s Back and please don’t be green with envy.

Don't Be Green With EnvyI won’t even bother giving my opinion on the style of this jacket…you should know me well enough by now to  know that I prefer creative, not crazy, for my clients.

About five years ago, bright and lime green were a trend color, and like black, it was all over the stores and hard to miss.

Be sure to scroll to the bottom to see my style tip for wearing lime or bright greens.

Unfortunately, I see this shade of green in almost every client’s closet, and it is typically a garment she rarely wears.

Don't Be Green With EnvyThe reason she rarely wears it, is because she feels wrong in it but doesn’t know why.

I created a do it yourself program, for $297, that includes helping you figure out which colors  you should and shouldn’t wear, and why.

If you know why something is right for you, you’ll wear it, and if you learn why it is wrong , you won’t wear it. It’s really that simple to stop making shopping mistakes, and feeling so discouraged when you stare into your clothes closet.

I don’t mess around, so take a look and listen to what I created to help you and your friends stop saying you wish you liked how you look and feel in clothes, to actually feeling confident and attractive.

See how you can go from being interested to committed towards making yourself happier about choosing what you wear for work or play.

“Oh my goodness. That was fun. I feel like I just lost 20 pounds. It’s like I was given permission to let go of past things that just didn’t work. Past ideas and even goals that literally just don’t fit me anymore. Thank you so much for your help. So much I never knew or even thought about!!!”- Lisa Tancredi

STYLE TIP: If you do have that lime green color in your closet, try combining it with navy instead of black. It will be a more flattering and softer combination.
