Do You Think Miley Cyrus Is Sexy?

Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus

Everyone is talking about Miley Cyrus in her bizarre and disturbing performance at the 2013 VMA, MTV Video Music Award show. If you have not seen it, and it is something to behold, go to YouTube, and search for Miley Cyrus at the VMA 2013 show. You might hate or thank me for sharing it with you, but read on before you judge me too harshly.

Once I stopped saying ewwwwwe, closed my wide open gaping mouth and controlled my uncomfortable laughter, I realized that Miley Cyrus simply does not know what sexy  is.

Miley Cyrus was barely singing and her dancing to Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, was in my view very similar to Elaine’s moves in the classic Seinfeld episode. Jerking and contorting does not mean dancing. Check out one of my favorite TV scenes below. Neither Elaine or  Miley Cyrus appear sexy with their moves.

I am convinced that the majority of men who watched Miley Cyrus perform in the VMA show, vowed to be celibate after watching her attempt to be sexy. Which leads me to ask: How does a women look and act sexy?

Well, the wrong way was explained very well by Miley Cyrus, and the right way is demonstrated every day by millions of women, either in public or on TV and magazines.

These are just a few of the things I believe makes a woman sexy, and they have nothing to do with clothes, breast or lip sizes.

1. Self-confidence

2.  Wisdom

3.  A large variety of life’s experiences

4.  Sense of humor

5.  Compassion

6.  A generous heart

What would you add?

You won’t believe how many of my clients need to get the item in my first step, and how much simpler it is for them to get dressed in the morning once they have it.

How Many Women Have Your Body Shape?

If you feel like you are the only one with a body shape such as yours, take a look at this chart and see how you are so not alone.

Many of my clients feel that their body shape issues are unique, when in fact they are in good company, and not at all in the minority.

Body shape

I have clients in each of these body shape categories, and a few that are a combination. Personally speaking, I sometimes shift from one body shape to another, depending on how much weight I have gained or lost

The secret is not to feel hopeless, but rather discover the ways to cleverly minimize the wider body parts and visually enlarge the too small parts.

Referring to the chart above, if a woman has a spoon body shape, then she needs to bring more attention to her top half and if she is a rectangle, then details and cuts in her clothes need to create the illusion of a waistline.

What To Pack In A Carry-On

Ever wonder about what to pack in a carry-on suitcase?

When I travel, I only bring a carry-on suitcase. Yes, it is a challenge, but when your wardrobe is all coordinated, you will be able to as well.

Years ago, I was in South Beach Florida, staying at the gorgeous W Hotel, and managed to pack in my carry-on, 2 dressy & multiple casual outfits, along with pool attire. It can be done, and here is how I did it for a previous trip to a wonderful week away in sunny and hot Arizona a few years ago. I give and live the packing tips I suggest to my clients and readers.

When I  took 8 days off to travel with a great friend to stay in her beautiful Arizona home, no major packing decisions had to be made.

So what did I take?

What To Pack In A Carry-OnWhat To Pack In A Carry-On

1 pair of shorts khaki
1 pair of shorts black
1 dress black, off-white & brown print
1 pair of white capri pants
1 top blue
1 top black
1 top blue/white print
1 pair of sandals off-white
1 pair of black sandals
1 pair sneakers
1 workout outfit
1 bathing suit
1 red handbag
So what jewelry could I take that would work with every outfit I put together? Well, that
was the easiest decision I had to make on this vacation.
I had purchased a wonderful coral & turquoise necklace, that complimented all my clothes and made me smile every day.
When you find a necklace that goes with many of your outfits, it makes accessorizing and packing so much easier.

packing tips“I recently attended Scarlett’s Styling Workshop Event, and found it to be life changing. I am now armed with knowledge; like what colors to choose for me, what’s in style, where to shop, how to accentuate my best features and how to choose a few quality pieces to add to my wardrobe. I went home and was able to clean out my closets. I love how Scarlett believes that you can still be comfortable and look good.
THANK YOU SCARLETT!” Melissa Schulz

3 Shopping Tips To End Your What Should I Wear misery

Hate Shopping For Clothes?

Would you or someone you know answer yes, to any of the questions below?

1. Find yourself wearing the same few outfits over and over again?
2. Want to lose some weight before buying flattering and well fitting clothes.
3. Find shopping for clothes very stressful?
4. Are you one of those women who hate shopping?
5. Feel that your body shape ‘issues’ are helpless?
6. Struggling with any of these issues for more than a few or more years?

Good news: You are not alone, and you can break free from these often very depressing issues.

Bad news: You need to take action, stop making excuses, and start looking at yourself more positively.

I cannot begin to count, how often I hear one or all of the above from new clients. I also can tell you, that after I show her how beautiful she can look in the right clothes and accessories, she never feels bad about herself again.

Enough with the negatives.

Below are positive and effective steps you can start doing right away that will change your pattern of not treating yourself as well as you should plus starting to realize that you are totally capable of looking fabulous every single day.

1. Do not wear the same outfit twice in one week. Force yourself on this one.

2. Stop putting off getting nicer clothes than what you have been wearing, even if you do want to lose some weight. If it takes you months, years, and sometimes never to lose weight, why put off looking good now?

3. Go to a clothing store you don’t usually shop in, with the goal of finding just one well fitting and flattering piece. If you hate a particular body part, then ask the salesperson what label as clothes that work with that issue. Turn your “I hate shopping for clothes” into an adventure of exploration and fun.

I know which manufacturers make clothes for wide hips, shoulders, short legs, long legs, etc. So, if you try a pair of pants on and you hate how you look in them, it could very well be that the manufacturer does not make clothes for your body type.

As an example, Theory, a higher priced label, makes beautiful clothes designed to fit very straight body shapes. If you have any curves or bulges, then you most likely will look awful in their clothes and might get stressed and depressed. But another designer does make clothes that will fit and flatter you and then you will feel relieved and pleased with yourself.

So go ahead and break out of your routine and take a little time to look and feel good about yourself.

Note: Just for the record, I do not work with women who love to shop for clothes. They don’t really need me, and I find helping the woman who has lost the feeling good about her personal image, so much more rewarding and fun to work with.

When Photoshop Goes Wrong & Why Aren’t My Thighs This Skinny?

Why aren’t my thighs this skinny too?

Photoshop on womenWhy oh why can’t I or most other women ever seem to look as perfect as the models and celebrities I see in print?

No matter how well a woman may eat, diet, exercise, or pamper her skin and mind, she just can’t seem to look as good as those ‘perfect’ models and celebrities.

Thankfully, I must admit, that even my beloved clients cannot compare to the women I recently saw a story about the crazy use of Photoshop on women.  Body parts are edited out in error, waists whittled down to impossible sizes, and so much more or shall I say less, all towards the goal of modeling artificial and unobtainable perfection.

But, wait, how can they compare? My naturally beautiful, and may I add, well-dressed clients have not been re-touched with Photoshop for photos like this well-known actress.

Her legs were edited into a position even a contortionist could not achieve. It appears her right leg is attached to her left hip. In this case, who would want to look like that?

Is anybody out there as mad as I am about this?

YES, You Should You Get A Bra Fitting

Bra Fitting
Drew Barrymore needed a lift.

Should You Get A Bra Fitting?

Need A Lift? You just might, so here is why you should get new bras and what you need to do to care for them.

Did you know that when you are wearing poor-fitting and old bras you most probably look older than you are or feel? Who wants that?
Remember what Grandma used to look like when she was wearing the wrong bra or shudders, no bra at all? Now, you don’t want that to ever be you. Not sure what look Drew Barrymore was going for, but my guess this was just a huge mistake.

Without a properly fitting bra, your waistline appears bigger, clothes don’t fit properly, and you look hunched over. None of these seem like desirable options, so please consider finding out if the time has come for you to get new bras.

Have you ever had a professional bra fitting? If not you don’t know what you’re missing! When you discover what size you really are, as chances are you are indeed wearing the wrong size, you will be delighted at how good you and yours can look in the right bra.

If you have gotten well-fitting bras, but it has been over a year since you replaced them, then it is probably time to get a new fitting and replace yours. I know they can be very expensive, and it hurts to have to replace them, but odds are that after one year, they are no longer doing the job they were intended to; keeping you up, centered, and proud!

Once you have good bras, read how Good Housekeeping gives the important tips on how to care for them, so that the investment in your bras last as long as possible.

Remember that not only will you look better, but you’ll also feel a lot better when you see how uplifting this experience will be.

“I enjoy your blogs & have been presenting myself better these days using the techniques/tips I learned from you. This is great because I don’t feel I need to diet before I can look good!”
